Things are certainly exciting in the recruitment world today. I speak as someone who remembers having to use books and CD roms for research!
Candidates have never been easier to find thanks to Linked In and sites such as Zoom info and Google. Tips and advice on best practice for sourcing candidates have also never been easier to share.
I am really benefitting from reading posts from USA's Glen Cathey www.booleanblackbelt.com and the UK’s Sourceress aka Katharine Robinson http://sourceress.co.uk about the clever things you can do with deep searching on Linked In. Thanks to you both for being so generous and helpful with your advice I am sure it is helping us all do a better job!
I am constantly researching the market changes at the moment. It seems a full time job to keep abreast of them, but I expect more and more companies to take control of recruitment in house and want to be well informed to help and advise them as they do.
I'm following commentators such as Jeff Bullas www.jeffbullas.com and Andy Headworth who writes Sirona says. www.sironaconsulting.com. These people are on the button with the changes in Social Media and the effects they are having on the recruitment world. Which reminds me I am really looking forward to attending the Social Media in Recruitment Conference on 2nd April. If you are going to be there too get in touch and say hello!
Three websites worth visiting which are looking at recruitment differently in the light of changes are
Brave New Talent www.bravenewtalent.com
Career Player www.careerplayer.com
Cast Resourcing www.castresourcing.com
They offer refreshing and really different models from the old recruitment agency.
Let's not forget the recent on line cut price webrecruiting services such www.webrecruit.com and www.easyonlinerecruitment.com I see exactly where they are coming from. A friend has just successfully recruited using one of these services. Lots of paperwork but it does what it says on the tin.
In my mind most of the changes I am seeing are for the good. We are doing our own small thing to approach the new market differently. I do wonder what lies around the corner. What are your thoughts and views?
